Air Force Basic Military Training graduates most Thursdays at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA-Lackland), with the Airman’s Coin and Retreat ceremony held the Wednesday before. Your Airman’s exact date and schedule come from their squadron, so confirm it before you book; graduation weeks fill the cabins fast, and we’d rather you build your trip around a confirmed date than a guess.
Outside of graduation week, this is simply a quiet property: no staffed front desk, no scheduled programming, and pets that stay free on all 14 cabins. It’s a place to actually unwind, whether that’s after a long drive, a deployment, or just a season that’s been a lot.

About 1,400 square feet, sleeps 8. Three bedrooms (one king, two queens), two full bathrooms, a pull-out sofa, a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer in the cabin, front and back porches, fast Wi-Fi, Roku TVs, free parking, and a private charcoal grill. Pets stay free, no fee.
Hot Tub Cabin
One bedroom, one bathroom, sleeps 3, with a private hot tub that holds up to 6 people at a time. Same fully equipped kitchen and in-cabin washer and dryer as the standard cabins. Pets stay free here too, no fee.
What About The JBSA Recreation Park At Canyon Lake?
A JBSA-operated recreation park sits on Canyon Lake itself, roughly 250 acres with boating, fishing, and recreational vehicle (RV) and cabin lodging on site. It’s worth knowing about if you already have access to it: entry is restricted to Department of Defense (DoD) ID holders, meaning active duty, Guard, Reserve, retirees, disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war (POWs), veteran caregivers, DoD civilians, and their sponsored guests.
Starlight Horizon has no affiliation with JBSA, the Department of Defense, or that park; we’re simply nearby. Current hours, entry rules, and directions change, so check directly with JBSA before you plan around it. We can’t get you in and don’t manage that property in any way.
