Privacy Policy
Last updated August 5, 2026.
This policy explains what personal information Starlight Horizon collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers our website at starlighthorizon.com, our booking engine, our email and text messages, and your stay at the property.
Starlight Horizon is a cabin resort at 22095 FM 306, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133, operating under Comal County WORD Permit #L1820. If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described in Section 10, contact us at Welcome@StarlightHorizon.com or 512-859-5810.
1. Information You Give Us
When you book a stay, join our email list, submit a group or wedding inquiry, or contact us, we collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, and billing address
- Your reservation details, including dates, cabin, party size, and any special requests or accessibility needs you tell us about
- Payment card details, handled as described in Section 3
- The content of your messages to us, by email, text message, our website forms, or the messaging tools inside our booking system
- Marketing preferences, including whether you asked for our email offers
If you claim a Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax exemption, we also collect your exemption certificate along with a driver’s license and business card or similar documentation, because the State of Texas requires us to verify and retain proof of the exemption.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
When you use our website or booking engine, we and the third parties named in Section 5 automatically collect:
- Your internet protocol address, approximate location derived from it, device type, operating system, and browser
- Pages you view, links you click, searches you run, dates you look up, cabins you view, and items you add to a booking
- How you reached us, including the search terms, advertisement, or website that referred you
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, described in Section 6
- If you allow browser notifications, a push notification token that lets us send you messages through your browser
Our website and our booking engine share one tracking setup. The same measurement and advertising tags run on starlighthorizon.com and on the Cloudbeds booking pages, and they are linked so that your activity can be followed from your first visit through to a completed booking.
3. Payment Information
Payment card details you enter at booking are collected and processed by our booking system, Cloudbeds, and its payment processor, Stripe. A valid card is held on file for your reservation and may be charged for lodging, taxes, fees, damages, excessive cleaning, or policy violations as set out in our Terms and Conditions. Starlight Horizon does not operate its own card database; we access card information through our booking system and only as needed to service your reservation.
Day guests who buy a pool pass purchase it directly from ResortPass, which collects and processes that payment under its own privacy policy. We do not receive their card details.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To take, confirm, and service your reservation, including sending your door code by text message and email before arrival
- To charge amounts you owe under our Terms and Conditions
- To answer your questions and handle requests, complaints, and incidents
- To send you marketing email if you asked for it, including our stay credit offers, and to send a reminder if you start a booking and do not finish it
- To measure and improve our website, our advertising, and our pricing
- To show you advertisements on other platforms, as described in Section 5
- To keep the property safe and to investigate damage, policy violations, or illegal activity
- To meet our legal, tax, and permit obligations
5. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share it with the companies below, and some of that sharing is for advertising, which several privacy laws treat as a sale or as targeted advertising. Section 10 tells you how to opt out.
Running the business
- Cloudbeds. Our booking engine and property management system. It holds your reservation, your payment details, and our message history with you, including the messaging tool our team uses to reply.
- Booking platforms. If you booked through Airbnb, Vrbo, Expedia, or Booking.com, that platform shares your reservation details with us and continues to handle your data under its own privacy policy.
- PriceLabs. Our pricing tool, which reads reservation and occupancy data.
- ResortPass. Sells day-guest pool passes directly, as described in Section 3.
- 10Web and WordPress. Host our website.
- Professional advisers and authorities. Our accountants, insurers, and lawyers, and law enforcement or tax authorities where the law requires it.
Email, messaging, and notifications
- Brevo. Sends our marketing email and holds our mailing lists.
- CartStack, which operates RezRecover. Records the email address you type into the booking engine even if you do not finish the booking, so we can send you one reminder. If you complete the booking, the reminder is cancelled.
- WonderPush. Delivers browser push notifications if you allowed them.
Advertising and analytics
- Google. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Ads receive your browsing and booking activity, including the value of a completed booking. Google reCAPTCHA protects our forms and Google Fonts serves our typefaces; both receive your internet protocol address.
- Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram. The Meta pixel on every page of our website and booking engine sends Meta your page views and your booking activity, including what you add to a booking and the value of a completed booking. We use this to show you advertisements and to build audiences of people similar to our guests.
- TikTok. The TikTok pixel runs on the same pages and sends TikTok the same kind of activity, and is used the same way. Our TikTok advertisements are not running at present, but the pixel continues to collect.
- AdRoll, which is operated by NextRoll. Runs retargeting advertising through a tag on our booking pages.
We have uploaded guest email addresses to Meta and TikTok so that those platforms can match them to accounts and build audiences of similar people to advertise to. If you do not want your email address used this way, tell us and we will remove you.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website and booking engine use cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary to make the site work, keep your booking in progress, and protect our forms. Others measure how the site performs, and others support the advertising described in Section 5. The advertising cookies are set by Google, Meta, TikTok, and AdRoll rather than by us, and they can follow your activity across other websites.
We do not currently show a cookie banner, so these technologies load when you arrive. You can control them through your browser settings and through the opt-out links in Section 10. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the booking engine from working.
7. Security Cameras
Security cameras operate in outdoor and common areas of the property for safety and property protection. There are no cameras inside cabins or in private spaces. Footage is used to keep guests safe and to investigate damage, policy violations, or illegal activity, and may be shared with insurers, a booking platform, or law enforcement in connection with an incident. By entering the property you consent to this recording, which is also stated in our Terms and Conditions.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep reservation and payment records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet tax, lodging permit, and accounting obligations, which in Texas generally means at least four years after your stay. Marketing list entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Security camera footage is kept on a short rolling cycle and overwritten unless it is preserved for a specific incident. Website and advertising data held by the companies in Section 5 is kept according to their own retention schedules; our own advertising audiences roll on a 180 day window.
9. Children
Families are welcome at Starlight Horizon, and a booking will often include children. Our website and marketing are directed at adults, and the guest making a reservation must be at least 22 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children online. If you believe a child has given us information through our website, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your Choices and Rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing and targeted advertising. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, including the right to appeal if we refuse a request, and we extend the same choices to every guest regardless of where you live.
To make a request, email Welcome@StarlightHorizon.com with the words Privacy Request in the subject line, or call 512-859-5810. We will confirm receipt and respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will not treat you differently for making a request.
You can also act directly:
- Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any message, or reply and ask us to remove you
- Text messages: reply STOP, or tell us. Note that operational messages such as your door code are part of your reservation
- Browser notifications: turn them off in your browser’s site settings
- Meta advertising: adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
- Google advertising and analytics: use Google’s My Ad Center, and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
- TikTok advertising: adjust the ads preferences in your TikTok account settings
- Industry opt-out pages: the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance both run tools that opt you out of many advertising networks at once
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information, and we limit staff access to what each role needs. No website or system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The version published on this page is the one in effect, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. If we make a material change to how we use your information, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
