Cabins Near New Braunfels
River Days, Gruene Nights, and the Ultimate Hill Country Home Base.
New Braunfels is the undisputed capital of Texas summer fun. From floating the Comal and Guadalupe rivers under the cypress trees to catching legendary live music at historic Gruene Hall, it is a destination made for big laughs and unforgettable group memories.
When you are planning a getaway for your favorite people, the hardest part is usually finding a place that actually fits everyone without feeling crowded or split up across overpriced hotel hallways.
That is where Starlight Horizon steps in.
Located a short 25-minute drive from downtown New Braunfels, Gruene, and Schlitterbahn, our modern 3-bedroom cabins give your group a front-row seat to the area’s best attractions without sacrificing peace and space. Spend your day floating the river, cooling off at the waterpark, or touring local wineries. Then, leave the crowded tourist strip behind and head back to your own private 5-acre resort oasis.
Each chic cabin features a full kitchen, airy living spaces, and a covered porch, plus access to our sparkling resort pool, six communal fire pits, and outdoor yard games. You get all the energy and excitement of New Braunfels, paired with a stylish, starry-night sanctuary where your whole group can stretch out, unwind, and celebrate together.
What’s There to Do in New Braunfels?
New Braunfels packs a lot into one small city: Schlitterbahn, the Comal River, Gruene Hall, and one of the prettiest historic downtowns in Texas, all about 25 minutes from your cabin door. Here’s where we point guests first.
Schlitterbahn Waterpark
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels sits right on the Comal River and runs weekends from early May, then daily through the heart of summer. Lines build fast in peak season, so leave the cabin early and make a full day of it. See park hours.
The Comal River
The Comal is one of the shortest navigable rivers in the country, about 2.5 miles start to finish, and every foot of it is in New Braunfels. The City Tube Chute is open for floating year-round, with tube rentals and lifeguards in season. City Tube Chute info.
Gruene Hall & the Historic District
Gruene Hall opened in 1878 and is still Texas’ oldest continually operating dance hall. Give Gruene a full afternoon: browse the 15-acre historic district, eat at the Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar, and if the river’s calling, Rockin’ R River Rides runs floats right from Gruene.
Downtown & Main Plaza
New Braunfels’ Main Plaza has anchored downtown since 1845, ringed by shops and restaurants around the Comal County Courthouse. Don’t skip Naegelin’s, baking since 1868 and widely credited as the oldest continuously operating bakery in Texas.
Landa Park
Landa Park is the city’s backyard: a spring-fed pool, playgrounds, walking trails, a miniature train, and an arboretum, all in one stretch of green along the Comal. Traveling with kids? McKenna Children’s Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM.

Wurstfest, Every November
Once a year New Braunfels throws Wurstfest, ten days of sausage, polka, and Texas-German tradition on the edge of Landa Park. The 2026 dates are November 6 through 15. Book your cabins early. Wurstfest dates.

Why Stay Outside New Braunfels Instead of in Town?
Space and quiet, mainly. A hotel room in town sleeps 2 to 4 people; a standard cabin here sleeps 8 for close to what one room costs, and the whole group stays on one property.
| A cabin at Starlight Horizon | A hotel room in New Braunfels | |
|---|---|---|
| Space | 3BR/2BA, full kitchen, living room, sleeps 8 | One room, sleeps 2-4 |
| Group | Whole group across cabins on one property, or a full buyout under one booking | Scattered across separate rooms and floors |
| Pets | Free on all 14 cabins, no fee | Pet fees common, often restricted entirely |
| Setting | Rural Hill Country, 5 acres, pool and fire pits on site | Downtown foot traffic and event noise |
| Distance to Schlitterbahn / Gruene | About 25 minutes | Walking distance, priced into the room rate |
A Schlitterbahn day starts early no matter where you sleep, so plan your runway for the drive and parking. A lot of groups split the day: water park in the morning, Gruene in the evening, cabin by night. The pool and the fire pits are the landing pad either way.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Starlight Horizon from New Braunfels and Gruene?
About 25 minutes from both New Braunfels and Gruene, and the same 25 minutes gets you to San Marcos too. Canyon Lake itself, with the marina and boat rentals, is 7 minutes the other direction.
Is this a good home base for a Schlitterbahn trip?
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels sits right on the Comal River, about 25 minutes away, so you get a full water park day and still come back to a quiet cabin instead of a hotel room on a busy strip. Go early for parking and a full day at the park, then unwind at the pool or a fire pit that night.
Why stay outside New Braunfels instead of in town?
Space and quiet, mainly. A hotel room in town sleeps a handful of people in one room; a standard cabin here sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms with a full kitchen and living room, for a similar price. You also get the whole group on one property instead of scattered across separate hotel rooms, plus a yard, a pool, and fire pits a downtown hotel doesn’t have.
Are pets allowed if we’re bringing the dog on a New Braunfels trip?
Yes, on all 14 cabins, and there’s no pet fee.
How many people can stay together?
A standard cabin (A through N, no Cabin I) sleeps 8 across 3 bedrooms. For a bigger group, a full 14-cabin buyout sleeps up to 100 overnight, so a wedding party, a big family reunion, or a group of friends heading to Schlitterbahn together can all stay on one property.
Do you offer any discount for a New Braunfels weekend?
Not on a standard booking, but a full 14-cabin buyout gets a discount: 1% for 2 nights, 10% for 3 or more nights, when booked and paid in a single payment on our site. Outside of a buyout, check our site for coupon codes.
